Delayed gratification

Hi friends! So, it has become glaringly apparent to me that I've been quite neglectful of the blog, in spite of the fact that I've been up to many interesting things of late. I'm sure that a band-aid of photos is not enough, but it's what I have time for at the moment. So, you'll find images from fun stuff I've been doing with friends. Also, I was fortunate enough to attend several inauguration-related events... the concert on the Mall, volunteering on MLK Day at the same site as Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, and the inauguration itself. Some of the proof is below...

After the holidays, but before New Year's, Dawn and Geoff came to DC for a few days to visit. It was delightful to play tourist with them for a bit.

Here's an artsy pic (courtesy Dawn's friend, Dai-An) of me, Geoff, and Dawn chillin'.

After Dawn and Geoff left, we had a few friends over to celebrate the New Year. Here are Sacha and Douglas having a grand old time.

In January, I went with Miranda and some of her friends (okay, my friends, too!) to see the Speaks last show at the 9:30 Club. Way fun!

So, my friend Kim (from Missouri) came to visit for a week. She'd never eaten Ethiopian faire. This is Miranda, Claire, Kim, and me at Dukem.

We started off the inauguration celebration at the Lincoln Memorial's "We Are One" concert. I was WAY excited about going to it. Clearly.

On MLK Day, Miranda, Kim, and I volunteered to make care packages for our troops at RFK Stadium. So, apparently, did Michelle Obama! This is right after I went through her line and she asked me how I was doing :)

I made care packages for troops in Iraq and Aghanistan.
Finally, Inauguration Day! This is me, Miranda, and Kim on the National Mall waiting for the ceremony to begin.

These are the friends we made during our 2-hour wait for coffee...

End of the day and riding the metro home. Kim and I were wiped!
